Hi, I’m Nimi!
I’m an interaction and product designer originally from Lagos, Nigeria, and now living in Vancouver, Canada. I hold a Master’s in Interaction Design from Emily Carr University of Art + Design. With a background in web and interaction design, I’m passionate about creating meaningful user experiences through digital products. My professional experience spans the SaaS and Fintech industries, where I’ve helped design digital solutions that make business operations more efficient.
Lately, my design practice has focused on community empowerment through design. My master’s thesis "Manicure Mixer: Design Lessons from the Black Beauty Salon," reimagined the Black Beauty Salon as a space for interaction design, community dialogue, and cultural celebration. By encouraging authentic dialogue and co-creation, I believe interaction design can be a powerful tool to uplift and empower communities.
I’ve been fortunate to be recognized for my work, receiving the 2023–24 Future Creative Catalysts Graduate Research Fellowship at Emily Carr University, as well as the ECU Graduation Awards for Anti-Racism and Social Justice, and the Emily Carr Alumni Association Graduation Award for Community Engagement.
